Brutal Lessons

Winnipeg July 3-5

After we squared away the nail in our tire in Winnipeg, we went to the Canada Museum for Human Rights, which was an incredible experience. In addition to the beautiful building in which the museum is housed, the exhibits truly tackled some very thorny issues and opened our eyes to so many instances of man’s inhumanity to man. One of the most relevant thing we learned was how Joseph Stalin tried to crush Ukrainian nationalism via mass starvation in 1932-1933. The modern playbook looks very similar.

We also met up with fellow Airstreamers Gail and Bruce Harrower who took us out to a lovely dinner at The Forks complex and gave us a great tour of the city.

Regina July 6

On to Regina(pronounced with a long i – Regīna). Plans to visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Heritage Center were thwarted because we had to get our windshield repaired after being hit by a rock on the highway. Hate to think of what’s next!
