Nature And Wildlife

Northern Rockies -July 14-20

Our time in northern British Columbia prepared us for some of the exciting things to come – abundant wildlife (moose, caribou, bison, sheep and bear) raw natural beauty and wonderful people we met along the way. One such person was a man from Argentina who had spent the past 4 years making his way to Canada in a Volkswagen bus with a cistern installed on the roof. He would stop and find work when he needed to and was having himself a real adventure. Ah, youth!

We also saw some incredible engineering feats like this curved wooden bridge that was constructed on the original Alaska Highway. The rationale for the curve was that it would be more difficult for an enemy plane to bomb it than if it were straight.

We also took the opportunity to soak in Liard River Hot Spring, which was a REAL treat after hiking.
